Hey friends!
I haven't blogged in a while as I've been busy getting ready for school and, now, attending school. It's been awesome, if you haven't been able to tell by my incessant Facebook and Twitter posts. Haha. But I just wanted to share a little blurb with you all about something that made my heart super happy a couple of weeks ago...
This semester I'm taking a class called Artistic Expression, which is a study of artwork and artists from different time periods. The first day of class, we were given about 10 minutes to make a graph of the kinds of artwork we liked and disliked, and artwork we were familiar with and unfamiliar with. Upon being given this prompt, I drew a blank. I know hardly anything about artwork or art styles or artists..... Soooo... I put down that I was semi-knowledgeable in the area of photography... That I liked Pinterest (haha... it's art... isn't it?)... That I enjoyed watching TV and movies (woot woot)... and some other silly things. I also put down that I loved people. People are my favorite kind of artwork. :)
Well a week or so later, a bunch of my friends and I got to go to a Hillsong concert (They came to our campus!! Whaat?) Thanks to my awesome grandparents I had a ticket for the pit! So I stood down there for most of the concert... AMAZING! Nearing the end of the concert I decided to go up to the row my friends were sitting in, closer to the top of the arena, so that I wouldn't lose them when it was over. When I got up there, they started playing all of the good songs because it was the end. So, naturally, I jumped around and danced with my friends for the fast ones, and then, when they played a slow one, I took a minute to just look around at everyone worshiping from where I stood... It was THE most incredible thing! What a display of God's handiwork! What majesty!
I stood there just soaking in the beauty of all the people around me, and what I beheld was not just a room full of people (which, in and of itself, IS beautiful)... but it was a room full of people indwelt by the same Holy God... Infinitely more beautiful!!! I watched as people all over the room lifted their hands, and turned their faces to heaven, and danced, and closed their eyes, and sang, and worshiped--things that one does not do unless he or she is filled by and in love with Jesus. As I watched, I realized not only the beauty of people, or the beauty of people coming together, but the beauty of people coming together for the same purpose, filled with the same Spirit, in love with the same God... And that is the kind of artwork that I love to see! God knows what I love, and He loves to draw my attention to it to give me joy. And for that I praise Him. <3 <3 <3
Let God draw your attention to something you love this week, and when He does, just be still... Take joy in it! And praise Him. :)
